Setup guide / ChatGPT

Step 2 · Connect your AI

Use Eidari with ChatGPT

On ChatGPT Free, Plus and Go you cannot add a connector, so you paste your profile into custom instructions. OpenAI offers custom MCP servers on Business, Enterprise and Edu (on Business only admins and owners can add one) and, with read access only, on Pro. Only on the web, not in the mobile apps.

Before you start, sign in to Eidari and create your profile (step 1).

Any plan: paste it into custom instructions

This works on every plan, including Free. ChatGPT gets a copy of your profile. It does not see later changes until you paste it again.

  1. In Eidari, open Setup, then Connect your AI. In the ChatGPT Free section, click Copy for ChatGPT.
  2. In ChatGPT on the web or the desktop app, open Settings, then Personalization. Make sure Enable customization is on.

On iPhone or Android: Settings, then Customize ChatGPT.

  3. Paste the text into the Custom instructions field and save.
  4. Back in Eidari, click I pasted this into ChatGPT.
  5. When ChatGPT learns something that should last, it ends its reply with a short "Profile note:". Copy that note into Paste a note from ChatGPT in Eidari and click Add this note.

Business, Enterprise, Edu and Pro: add a custom MCP server

On these plans ChatGPT can read your profile directly. You no longer need Developer mode. OpenAI's steps, on chatgpt.com in a browser:

  1. Go to Plugins. Select the plus button, then Add custom MCP server.

On Business, only workspace owners and admins can add one. Members then install it from the workspace.

  2. Enter Eidari as the name. Under Connection, paste the address.

    https://eidari.com/api/mcp

  3. Choose OAuth for authentication.

If ChatGPT asks how to register the client, keep dynamic client registration and leave the client ID and secret empty. ChatGPT registers itself with Eidari.

  4. Read the risk warning, check I understand and want to continue, and select Create as a plugin. Review the tools, then install the plugin.
  5. Sign in on the Eidari page that opens, choose what ChatGPT may see and do, and click Allow.
  6. In a new chat, type @ and pick the plugin, then send the first sentence from step 3.

Reading your profile runs without asking. Before ChatGPT suggests an update, it asks you to confirm.

Not tested yet. We have not tested Eidari as a ChatGPT plugin yet. On Pro, ChatGPT only gets read access, so it can read your profile but not suggest updates. Plus, Go and Free cannot add custom MCP servers.

Check that it works

Send the first sentence from step 3 in a new chat. Then open Setup: it shows that ChatGPT is connected. To change what ChatGPT may see, or to cut it off, use Connected AIs.

Something does not work

I don't see Plugins or Add custom MCP server.

Your plan or workspace does not allow it, or you are in the mobile app. Use custom instructions instead, or ask your workspace admin.

ChatGPT can read my profile but never suggests updates.

On Pro, custom MCP servers are read-only. Suggesting updates needs Business, Enterprise or Edu.

The text is too long for custom instructions.

Eidari shortens the copy so it fits. The full profile stays in the app.
